Scotland make up 25% of the British and Irish Lions rugby team. They annually take part in the Six Nations and participate in the Rugby World Cup.
Scotland have been playing rugby since 1871 and in their early days enjoyed success in the Five Nations. Since the change to the Six Nations, Scotland’s rugby fortunes have not been bright.
Scotland have participated in all Rugby World Cups - their best finish in 1991 when they lost to the All Blacks in the 3rd place play-off.
Scotland are ranked 11th in the world.
