South Africa Rugby World Cup Team
The South African rugby team, known as the Springboks, are a formidable force in world rugby with a long standing tradition. The Boks compete in the Tri Nations alongside the New Zealand All Blacks and Australia, as well as competitions such as the Rugby World Cup.
Due to sports boycotts and the world’s rejection of the Apartheid regime in South Africa - the Springboks did not compete is the first two Rugby World Cups. They did make their debut in the 1995 World Cup, hosting it as well. They defeated the All Blacks in the final, which is now remembered as one of the greatest moments in South Africa’s sporting history.
The Springboks are regarded as one of the best rugby nations in the world.
South Africa are ranked 4th in the world.
